Nine overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), reportedly victims of human trafficking in Myanmar, arrived home safely on Sunday, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
Arriving via Thai Airways, the OFWs were welcomed by DMW Assistant Secretary Maria Regina Angela Galias, with teams from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the NAIA Task Force Against Human Trafficking (NAIATFAT).
Initial financial assistance and welfare support from the DMW and OWWA were extended to the OFWs upon their arrival.
The DMW said it will meet again with the OFWs after the holidays to assist them and provide legal aid.
“They are scheduled to report to the DMW in January 2026 for legal aid and additional case management, as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to protect and assist victims of human trafficking,” it said.
