Casimero stops Mizokoshi

Nick Giongco

Three-division world champion Johnriel Casimero knocked out Japanese Tom Mizokoshi in five rounds in their scheduled eight-round featherweight match Saturday in Tokoname, Japan.

Casimero knocked his overmatched foe with a three-punch combination and even if Mizokoshi, his nose bloodied, beat the count, the referee wisely called a halt to the bout.

Casimero immediately took control of the fight and had Mizokoshi on the receiving end of his hard shots.

As early as the second round, Mizokoshi’s nose bled profusely.

The win boosted Casimero’s record to 35-5-1 with 24 knockouts while the defeat dropped Mizokoshi’s mark to 11-5-2 with five stoppages.
