Mitsubishi Power and Mitsubishi Electric have completed functional testing of a next-generation gas turbine control system jointly developed for thermal power plants, the companies said.
The system is designed to manage large-scale gas turbines more efficiently by combining Mitsubishi Power’s control technology with Mitsubishi Electric’s high-speed data processing capabilities. According to the companies, the system supports stable power output while allowing rapid load adjustments to respond to fluctuations in renewable energy generation.
Test results confirmed the system’s ability to process the increased volume of operational data generated by larger and higher-performance gas turbines. The companies said further development and verification activities will follow, including validation tests that simulate actual plant operations. Commercial deployment for new projects is targeted for fiscal year 2026.
The control system is intended for use in gas turbine combined cycle facilities, which require high levels of operational reliability and safety. Mitsubishi Power has supplied control systems for thermal power plants since the late 1980s, delivering more than 3,000 units globally.
Mitsubishi Electric has provided over 1,000 instrumentation and control systems for thermal and hydroelectric power plants in Japan since 1980.
