The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reported that Christmas celebrations in Metro Manila were generally peaceful, with no major incidents recorded.
In a radio interview, NCRPO spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo said authorities handled only minor and routine incidents during the holiday period.
“For most people here in Metro Manila, the celebration of Noche Buena was orderly and peaceful,” Asilo said.
She noted that only minor incidents were recorded, including illegal gambling activities in the days leading up to Christmas. A road rage incident involving a van and a motorcycle was also reported but was immediately resolved.
The NCRPO recorded eight firecracker-related injuries in Metro Manila based on monitoring that began on December 16. Three of the victims were minors, and all injuries were reported to be minor.
Authorities also monitored an incident of indiscriminate firing in Parañaque City involving a uniformed personnel. The officer is currently in the custody of the Southern Police District, and an investigation is ongoing.
Asilo added that more than 14,000 Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel will be deployed for the New Year’s Eve celebrations and the upcoming Traslación of the Black Nazarene.
