PAGASA: Easterlies, amihan to bring rains over parts of Philippines

Gwen Bergado

According to the 5 a.m. advisory issued Tuesday by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), several parts of the country will experience rains due to the prevailing easterlies and the northeast monsoon.

PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and most parts of the country due to easterlies.

The Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Quezon, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte are expected to experience scattered rains also caused by easterlies.

Meanwhile, Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora will be affected by the northeast monsoon, bringing cloudy skies with rains.

The state weather bureau added that the amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Central Luzon.

For coastal waters, PAGASA warned that Northern Luzon will experience strong northeast winds and rough seas. Central Luzon and the eastern section of Southern Luzon are also expected to have moderate to rough coastal waters due to strong northeast winds.
