The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has cleared its entire case backlog for the first time in its history, resolving a 25-year pileup of 4,000 pending administrative matters, officials said Tuesday.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla lauded the achievement following the commission’s final en banc session of the year, noting that some of the concluded cases dated back more than two decades.
He said the milestone fulfills a directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to accelerate government legal processes.
“For the first time since the inception of Napolcom, the board has successfully completed its zero backlog case,” Remulla said. “We have concluded cases as far as 25 years old.”
Remulla said the clearing of the docket sends a clear message to the rank and file of the Philippine National Police that the commission is a functioning watchdog and oversight body.
