Vice President Sara Duterte on Monday denied having a personal relationship with Ramil Madriaga, saying his claims were intended to undermine her possible plans to run for president in the 2028 elections.

In an official statement, Duterte said Madriaga, who claims to be her former aide, failed to present credible evidence or documents to support what she described as his “bare allegations.”

“I do not have a personal relationship with Ramil Madriaga, nor have I ever given him instructions of any kind. I have never visited him in prison, nor have I spoken to him about anything at any time,” Duterte said.

She added that the photographs submitted by Madriaga were unrelated images taken during public events where she was present.

Duterte further alleged that Madriaga appeared to be “acting out of desperation” in an attempt to secure his release from detention.

Madriaga has alleged that drug dealers and Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) are funding the campaign Inday Sara Duterte is My President (ISIP) Pilipinas.
