The instruction was simple: Train, train, train.
While there is no confirmation yet whether he will challenge Puerto Rican two-belt titleholder Oscar Collazo in February, International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight titlist Pedro Taduran is training as if the fight is a done deal.
Collazo holds the World Boxing Organization (WBO) and World Boxing Association (WBA) minimumweight crowns and is prioritizing to unify all straps and become his country’s first undisputed champion.
“Pedro was just told one thing: Train and be prepared,” Cucuy Elorde, who manages Taduran alongside his brother Marty.
Cucuy said Sean Gibbons, the influential American dealmaker is in talks with Collazo’s Los Angeles-based promotional outfit Golden Boy.
Taduran heeded Gibbons’ call and has been reporting daily for workouts at the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque.
“He’s back training the last two weeks,” Cucuy added.
