Mobile energy system up at Pag-asa Island

The Department of Energy (DoE) has provided a Mobile Energy System (MES) to the Pag-asa Island Integrated School in Kalayaan, Palawan, to improve access to electricity in one of the country’s most remote communities in the West Philippine Sea (WPS).

The energy system was delivered in line with the government’s ongoing efforts to supply reliable power to off-grid areas, particularly schools and other essential facilities.

Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the system will help ensure continuous electricity for teaching and learning activities on the island.

Aside from the energy system, the school also received 10 Christmas lanterns or parol, produced by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority centers from various provinces.

The Mobile Energy System is a renewable energy solution designed for use in micro-grids and can support the power needs of schools, health facilities, businesses and households. It provides a safe and dependable source of electricity, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
