CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A coordinated effort between the military and residents in Aurora Province led to the discovery and seizure of a vital food cache belonging to the dismantled Kometing Rehiyon Gitnang Luzon (KRGL), a communist insurgent group, the military reported Thursday.

The Joint Task Group (JTG) 7-2, under the command of Brigadier General Eugenio Julio C. Osias IV, credited the success of the operation to the growing trust and cooperation of local communities. Information provided by residents was instrumental in pinpointing the location of the hidden food supplies, which included rice and sugar, according to reports from the 703rd Brigade.

"This operation clearly demonstrates the vigilance, discipline, and dedication of our troops, but more importantly, it highlights the crucial role that our communities play in safeguarding our peace," BGEN Osias said in a statement.

"The recovery of this food cache denies the remnants of the dismantled KRGL any opportunity to regroup or reestablish their support systems," he added.

The military emphasized that the operation, conducted on 15 December, in San Luis, Aurora, is part of a larger, sustained campaign to prevent the resurgence of insurgent activities in Central Luzon. By working closely with local government units and implementing development-oriented initiatives, the JTG 7-2 aims to address the root causes of the conflict and create a more secure and stable environment for residents.

The discovery of the food cache represents a major setback for the KRGL, which has been significantly weakened in recent years due to intensified military operations and a loss of support from local communities.

The task group believes that the disruption of their logistical networks will further degrade their operational capabilities and contribute to the overall peace and stability of the region.
