Passengers who have layover time at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport NAIA Terminal 3 may enjoy new amenities being offered by the Department of Tourism (DoT) to help visiting passengers explore Metro Manila’s rich culture and heritage and experience world-class medical service.
The DoT, headed by Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, on Tuesday, launched the first-ever Transit Tours and Medical Concierge, inaugurated by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos in a bid to modernize and enhance the country’s tourism experience.
Marcos Jr. dubbed the initiatives “experiential tourism” and likewise affirmed the administration’s commitment to positioning the Philippines as a tourism powerhouse in Asia.
For her part, Frasco said that the initiative is in line with the National Tourism Development Plan (NTDP) 2023-2028 to further diversify the country’s tourism offerings through gateway-based tourism initiatives.
“These initiatives reflect a stakeholder-driven approach to governance built through collaboration among government agencies, the private sector, and tourism frontliners,” Secretary Frasco said.
“Under President Marcos and the vision of Bagong Pilipinas, we continue to modernize our gateways to work better for people and compete confidently on the global stage. When we elevate the visitor experience, we create livelihood for Filipinos and present the Philippines with confidence to the world,” she said, reaffirming DoT’s commitment to giving travelers more reasons to Love the Philippines.
Eligible travelers from visa-free countries with a minimum layover of eight hours can enjoy a safe, time-bound, curated glimpse of Metro Manila’s iconic attractions through the Transit Tours.
