The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will implement a temporary lane closure and stop-and-go scheme along the route of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 51st Edition Grand Parade of Stars on 19 December, Friday, in Makati City.
At least 1,000 personnel, composed of traffic personnel, motorcycle unit and mobile patrol units, towing and Impounding group, Road Emergency Group, Public Safety Division, Metro Parkways Clearing Group, and traffic engineering center, will be deployed.
The agency said traffic adjustments will be in effect from 12:01 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the following roads: Macapagal Boulevard, Senator Gil Puyat Avenue, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, JP Rizal Street, and AP Reyes Avenue. Motorists will be made to stop intermittently on specific lanes to allow the parade to pass quickly, and then traffic will be resumed.
The city government of Makati serves as host city for this year's parade, which is expected to draw crowds to get a glimpse of their favorite celebrities aboard decorative floats representing each movie entry.
MMDA Chairman and Concurrent MMFF Overall Chairman extends sincere gratitude to Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay for graciously hosting the event and for their all-out assistance to make the parade a memorable one.
Artes said the city government's invaluable support and commitment to facilitate the smooth flow of the parade and ensure the safety of the people attending the parade are commendable.
Movie-themed floats, tents, a starting holding area, and the main stage will occupy the northbound section of Macapagal Blvd. Spectators at the parade's starting point will gather in the southbound direction.
Motorists are advised to plan their trips and use alternate routes. Alternate routes: Vehicles coming from Macapagal Blvd/ MOA/ Cavite area:
Take left at Seaside Blvd, right at Diokno Blvd., straight to Atang De la Rama St., right at Vicento Sotto St., left at Jalandoni St., then right at Pedro Bukaneg street to the destination, or from Diokno Blvd., right at Gil Puyat Ave. Extension, left at Jalandoni St., then right at Pedro Bukaneg street to the destination.
Vehicles going to EDSA: Along J. P Rizal Ave, take Rockwell to Kalayaan Avenue (converted to one-way Traffic, from J. P. Rizal Ave, take A. Mabini St., left at Zamora St., right at Commando Bridge to the destination.
The parade will travel through Buendia Avenue, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, JP Rizal Street, A. Reyes Avenue, and will end at Circuit Makati. It will run for one-hour and 40 minutes and will cover a distance of 8.4 kilometers.
The audience will have the chance to meet and greet with the stars, followed by a program and performances at the Circuit Makati.
