Actor and dancer Mark Herras revealed that he is seriously considering getting a vasectomy, a decision he says is rooted in careful planning and an honest assessment of his family’s current situation.
The Kapuso star shared that he and his wife, actress Nicole Donesa, feel fulfilled as parents to their two children—four-year-old Mark Fernando “Corky” Donesa Herras and their youngest, Mija, who was born in June 2025.
“Magpapakapon na ako, e. Napag-usapan namin ni Nicole ‘yan pero hindi ko pa alam kung kailan,” Mark said candidly, adding that while the idea has been discussed, it has not yet been finalized. “Siyempre, pinag-iisipan ko nang maigi… Actually, nag-uusap pa lang kami tungkol dito. Hindi pa naman siya final.”
For Mark, the conversation is part of a broader approach to responsible family planning. He explained that their intention is to prevent having more children so they can focus fully on providing for the family they already have. “Pero ‘yun ang gusto namin. Para ma-prevent na rin ang maraming anak,” he said.
When a commenter suggested that condoms could be an alternative, Mark responded bluntly and without hesitation: “Ayoko ng condom.”
The actor was quick to clarify that his stance has nothing to do with avoiding responsibility as a father. On the contrary, he emphasized that his considerations are grounded in realism, particularly when it comes to financial stability.
“Ang iniisip ko lang siguro, ‘yung capacity… like ngayon, ‘yung trabaho ko with GMA or outside showbiz, hindi pa siya gano’n ka-stable,” he explained.
Mark pointed out that raising children comes with growing expenses that cannot be ignored. “So kung magdadagdag kami, ayan, mahal ang pang-school ng bata… pati gatas. So, parang family planning lang,” he said, underscoring the practical reasons behind the discussion.
He also admitted that seeing fellow Kapuso host Drew Arellano openly talk about undergoing a vasectomy helped normalize the idea for him. “Actually, nu’ng nakita ko ‘yung kay Drew, sabi ko, ‘may gumagawa naman pala talaga,’” Mark shared.
While no final decision has been made, Mark Herras’ openness has sparked conversation online.
