As Cebu continues to recover from the damage caused by a series of calamities, from typhoons to earthquakes, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has moved to help revitalize the province’s tourism sector.
The agency, together with Cebu Pacific and the Hotel, Resort, and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. (HRRACI), formalized a collaboration to offer lodging packages and travel discounts aimed at attracting more tourists to the island province.
DOT Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco signed the memorandum of understanding with Cebu Pacific Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer Candice Jennifer Iyog and HRRACI President Mia Faye-Singson on Friday afternoon.
Since assuming office, Frasco has emphasized not only boosting tourism arrivals but also supporting local businesses by helping showcase the unique crafts and offerings of cities and provinces.
“On the part of the Department of Tourism, we are investing by securing the provision of hotel vouchers that will allow tourists to stay longer, to spend more, and to ensure that business and livelihood thrives here in Cebu not just for our establishments but especially to our tourism frontliners,” Frasco said.
She added that the initiative supports efforts to revitalize Cebu’s tourism industry while reinforcing its status as a leading destination for leisure, diving, and heritage travel.
Central to the partnership is “Visit Cebu,” a coordinated digital marketing campaign targeting six priority markets. The campaign promotes Cebu’s tourism offerings to travelers from South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam, all of which have direct international routes to Cebu via Cebu Pacific.
Under the agreement, international visitors will be eligible for a complimentary one-night hotel stay, hospitality promotions, and discount coupons at DOT partner hotels and resort establishments through HRRACI.
