Toyota Philippines launches bZ4X, its first full-electric Toyota model

DT

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) formally rolled out its first Toyota-branded battery electric vehicle (BEV), the all-new bZ4X, with retail sales beginning Wednesday, 11 December.

The launch marks a major expansion of TMP’s electrified lineup, which previously included only the Lexus RZ and Lexus UX in the full-electric segment. The bZ4X enters the market as part of the company’s multi-pathway strategy toward carbon-neutral mobility, a direction TMP has pursued since introducing the Prius hybrid in 2009.

TMP now has 22 electrified models under both Toyota and Lexus, the widest xEV portfolio in the country.

Powered by a 73.11 kWh lithium-ion battery and dual motors, the all-wheel drive bZ4X delivers 227 PS in front and 120 PS in the rear, with torque output of 269 Nm and 170 Nm respectively. It has an EV range of up to 570 km based on UN R101 standards, with actual range varying depending on driving conditions.

The electric SUV features a sharp, angular exterior, LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic moonroof, and 200 mm ground clearance. Inside, it seats five and offers synthetic leather upholstery, heated seats front and rear, and ventilated front seats. Drivers also get an eight-way power seat with memory.

Cabin technologies include a 7-inch digital meter cluster, 14-inch display audio with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless charging pads, and USB Type-C ports front and rear.

Safety features come standard through the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite, including Pre-Collision System, Automatic High Beam, Adaptive High Beam System, Lane Tracing Assist, Lane Departure Alert, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Blind Spot Monitoring, a Panoramic View Monitor, and a digital rearview mirror further enhance visibility.

Each bZ4X purchase includes a free wall box charger and a portable charger.

“It takes time and strategic planning to roll out what we call our multi-pathway approach to carbon neutral mobility… we believe we're ready to make BEVs more mainstream with the Toyota bZ4X,” said TMP First Vice President for Vehicle Sales Operations Elijah Marcial.

Early buyers cited fuel savings, growing charging infrastructure, and brand trust as factors in choosing the bZ4X. One customer noted regular trips between Quezon City, Caloocan, and Nuvali, where charging stations are widely available. Another said: “It’s hard to bet on new players in the market. I’ve been a Toyota owner since the ‘80s… for sure [the bZ4X] will be [with us] for the long run.”

The bZ4X comes in a single variant with multiple two-tone colorways:
• PHP 2,699,000 – Dark Blue Mica/Attitude Black Mica
• PHP 2,714,000 – Platinum White Pearl Mica/Attitude Black Mica
• PHP 2,719,000 – Precious Metal/Attitude Black Mica and Emotional Red/Attitude Black Mica

The model is now available at select Toyota dealerships nationwide, including Toyota Alabang, Toyota Commonwealth, Toyota Global City, Toyota Makati, and others.
