Three male suspects involved in a motorcycle robbery and theft incident were arrested by personnel of the Cainta Municipal Police Station in a follow-up investigation and hot pursuit operation conducted along C6 Road in Barangay San Miguel, Taguig City early Tuesday morning.
The arrested suspects were identified by their aliases as Maki, 18; Christ, 18; and Bam, 19 — all residents of Taguig City.
The suspects are facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 and for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Based on the investigation, the 31-year-old victim, a mototaxi rider, was returning home after dropping off a passenger at Monte Vista Subdivision in Sto. Niño, Cainta, Rizal, when the suspects blocked him, pointed a gun at him, and forcibly stole his motorcycle and cellphone worth P13,000.
The victim immediately reported the incident to the Cainta Municipal Police Station, which promptly launched a hot pursuit operation and tracked the location of the stolen motorcycle using a GPS tracker attached to the vehicle.
The quick response of the Cainta police led to the arrest of the three suspects, the recovery of the stolen motorcycle and cellphone, and the confiscation of a 9mm pistol and a magazine loaded with 15 live ammunition.
The suspects are now detained at the Cainta Municipal Police Station custodial facility for proper documentation and disposition.
