The Social Security System (SSS) said Tuesday it released a total of P18.8 billion in 13th month pensions to about 3.66 million pensioners during the first week of December.
The benefit was credited in two batches. The first batch on 01 December 2025 covered around 2.13 million pensioners amounting to P10.5 billion, while the second batch on 04 December 2025 covered around 1.53 million pensioners amounting to P8.3 billion.
SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph M. de Claro said the annual cash gift aims to provide additional financial support to pensioners during the holiday season.
“This is our way of giving back to our pensioners who have contributed to the System during their productive years. We hope this additional benefit brings joy and relief to them and their families this Christmas,” de Claro said.
Pensioners as of 31 August 2025 received higher amounts this year following the implementation of the Pension Reform Program in September 2025. Under the program, retirement and disability pensioners received a ten percent increase, while survivorship pensioners received a five percent increase.
The 13th month pension is automatically credited to the bank accounts of those receiving retirement, disability, and survivorship pensions. SSS reminded pensioners to keep their bank account details updated to avoid delays.
SSS said the Commission on Audit issued an unmodified opinion for 2024, with the agency currently addressing specific audit observations through established corrective measures.
