30 PNP informants get P10.6-M in cash rewards for criminal arrests 

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday awarded a total of P10.6 million in cash rewards to 30 informants whose tips led to the arrest of 30 wanted individuals across the country.

These informants received their rewards in plastic envelopes while wearing full-face masks to maintain anonymity during a ceremonial awarding held at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City. The event was led by PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez alongside other top PNP officials.

PNP Director for Intelligence Police Maj. Gen. Wilson Joseph Lopez said the monetary rewards came from the agency’s intelligence fund, with allocations approved by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The arrests cover individuals involved in serious crimes such as murder, rape, and homicide, according to Lopez.

The highest reward of P5.3 million was granted to an informant whose tip led to the February 2023 arrest of a suspect wanted by the 74th Special Action Company for seven counts of murder and 25 counts of frustrated murder. 

While the lowest reward, P50,000, was given to an informant who helped in the January 2024 arrest of a suspect wanted for double murder by the Kalinga Provincial Intelligence Unit and the Police Regional Office Cordillera.

For his part, Nartatez emphasized that the reward program aims to strengthen cooperation between the police and the community.

“This is an incentive for those who can give information for the solution of a case. It will speed up investigations and encourage our fellow citizens to come forward,” he said.

The PNP chief added that regardless of rewards, the police remain committed to their duties. 

“With or without these rewards, of course, the PNP will work. Our job is to conduct patrols, investigate, and make arrests following proper procedures,” Nartatez said.

Nartatez also stressed that the PNP continues to encourage citizens to report information that can help solve crimes, while reaffirming its mandate to maintain law and order nationwide.
