Star Magic is closing the year with fresh faces and big energy as it unveiled its latest Spotlight Presscon this December — this time highlighting rising artists Robbie Jaworski and Angelina Cruz, who headline the much-talked-about series The Alibi.

Though newcomers to the acting scene, both stars have already secured major roles in one of today’s buzziest teleseryes. During the presscon, Robbie looked back on his unexpected learning curve in the industry.

“A lot of realizations tungkol sa proseso ng trabaho. Initially, I thought acting and hosting were about being quick — mabilis mag-isip — but it’s a lot more than that. It takes a lot of preparation — in mind, in body; it’s a whole package.”

For Angelina, The Alibi marks her first-ever teleserye after previously appearing in a film with Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano.

“I expected it to be the same as filming a movie because I filmed one with DonBelle before, and I found it very chill. But filming a serye — The Alibi — is very different. It can be fast-paced,” she explained.

The pair stars alongside powerhouse actors and established loveteam Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino. In the show, Robbie and Angelina also portray each other’s love interests, playing the younger siblings of the lead characters.

Robbie takes on the role of Edward Cabrera, Paulo Avelino’s brother, who comes from an influential and affluent family. He revealed that portraying Edward required him to tap into personal experiences.

“I used a lot of inspiration from my personal life… One aspect of Edward’s upbringing is that he’s a nepo baby who works in his family’s business. His family owns a hotel, and he becomes its manager. It really helped, ‘yung balance of being humbled enough to know na wala ka masyadong alam sa buhay.”

Meanwhile, Angelina plays Katherine Morales, the younger sister of Kim Chiu’s character, who comes from a more modest background — serving as a foil to the luxurious world of the Cabreras.

“I really had to dig deep into Katherine’s character and find elements I could resonate with. ‘Yung pagiging overprotective niya sa family niya, having a sister she loves so much — I have two sisters,” she shared.

Beyond acting, Robbie continues to flourish as a MYX VJ and event host, while Angelina is steadily nurturing her passion for music.

With The Alibi setting the stage for bigger opportunities, both young artists expressed their commitment to their craft. For Angelina, acting is a journey she’s eager to explore further.

“As of now, my focus is really on acting and working on that… I want to try acting,” she said.
