Bloomberry Foundation holds rice relief ops in Catanduanes

DT

Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc. (BCFI), in partnership with Solaire Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels Inc. and Solaire Resort and Casino, have distributed sacks of rice to 2,000 families affected by super typhoon “Uwan” in Catanduanes.

“Uwan” struck the province on 9 November, displacing more than 4,000 families, including 777 families who were forced to take shelter in evacuation centers. The typhoon triggered floodings that disrupted supply line and caused food storage, so BCFI conducted relief operations for communities in the towns of San Miguel, Baras, Gigmoto, Panganiban, Pandan and Caramoran.

The distribution of 25-kilo sacks of rice was made possible with the help of volunteers from the Catanduanes Police Provincial Office, the 503rd Community Defense Center under the Reserve Command of the Philippine Army, and the 83rd Infantry Battalion under the 9th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.
