CONCEPCION, Tarlac — In a bold strike against illegal firearms, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) seized 10 loose guns and arrested two suspects during a coordinated operation in Barangay San Vicente on 5 December.
The operation was part of OPLAN PAGLALANSAG OMEGA, the CIDG’s ongoing campaign to crack down on loose firearms and private armed groups (PAGs). Teams from the CIDG, Special Action Force, Police Regional Office 3, MIG 3 and the Philippine Army executed three simultaneous search warrants against spouses Congressman “Bong” and “Eve,” and Engr. “Nilo.”
The raid yielded a staggering haul: one 5.56 Bushmaster rifle with suppressor, four 9mm pistols, two .40-caliber pistols, one .45, one .22, a 12-gauge shotgun, nine magazines, and assorted live ammunition.
Two men were taken into custody — Gene, the son-in-law of Congressman Bong and Jaime, the lawmaker’s security guard. Both were found in possession of three firearms with expired licenses and permits.
CIDG officials emphasized that the arrests and confiscations highlight their unwavering commitment to keeping firearms off the streets and ensuring public safety.
“This operation sends a clear message: loose firearms will not be tolerated, and no one is above the law,” a CIDG spokesperson said.
