If eyes are the windows to the soul, for celebrity couple Khalil Ramos and Gabbi Garcia, food is the window to the soul of a country.
Hence, being front and center at the recent announcement of the first ever Michelin Guide winners in the Philippines recently made the actors excited that finally, more foodies like them would have a window to some of the best food the Philippines could offer.
“For me, almost all the time, whenever we travel (we look for Michelin stars). So it’s a very big deal that they’re here now in the Philippines,” Khalil admitted.
“It will really boost our tourism and I can’t wait for the world to try our Filipino food!” added Gabbi, in the same exclusive interview with DAILY TRIBUNE prior to the ceremonies of Michelin Guide: Manila and Environs and Cebu 2026 last 30 October in Pasay City, which saw the announcement of 108 Philippine restaurants getting stars, Bib Gourmand, Selected and Special Awards.
Among the Michelin-starred restaurants they have tried all over the world, Gabbi recommended The Ledbury in London, the United Kingdom.
The Ledbury was awarded with three stars at the 2025 Michelin Guide for “Chef Brett Graham’s innovative cooking, paired with fine wines in a smart, modern setting.”
“We recently ate there last July. It’s really good! It’s definitely on top (of my choices). They have three stars. You guys have to visit!” Gabbi said of The Ledbury.
“Another is neighbor lang natin from Taiwan, Logy (Another is just from our neighboring country from Taiwan, Logy). It has two stars,” Khalil added.
A two-Michelin-star restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan, Logy is serves innovative, contemporary Asian cuisine blending Italian and Japanese. Chef Ryogo Tahara, who has worked in other Michelin-starred restaurants, heads the kitchen. The restaurant offers an Omakase-style, multi-course menu and also provides a non-alcoholic drink pairing as a luxury alternative to wine.
“We’re open to any cuisine! We’re adventurous when it comes to food, so we’re open for anything!” Gabbi declared.
“Wherever we’re traveling to, we love to always experience culture together through the restaurants,” noted Khalil.
In their eight years together since they started dating in 2017, Gabbi and Khalil have shared not only the same passion for acting, but also the same love for food.
“Food is our number one bonding!” exclaimed Gabbi. “It really tightens the relationship and we really enjoy food not just for the taste but also how it’s done; the chefs behind it, the art behind it, the culture behind it.”
