Instead of stadiums and showstopping performances, Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently took their visit to Japan in a more personal direction: meeting with former Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko.
“Former Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau came to Japan with his partner Katy Perry and had lunch with us,” Kishida captioned a Dec. 4 post, via translation. “I am glad that we are continuing this friendship.” The accompanying photo shows the four smiling in front of a Christmas tree, exuding warm holiday cheer.
Katy opted for a chic army-green two-piece skirt set paired with a black turtleneck, tights, and black booties, while Justin looked classic in a gray suit with a light-blue button-down and tie.
The couple—who share their budding relationship publicly after first dining together in the summer—have been slowly revealing more of their romance. Katy, who shares daughter Daisy Dove, 5, with ex Orlando Bloom, and Justin, a father of three, soft-launched their relationship in October.
Meanwhile, Justin’s estranged wife, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, who separated from him in 2023, shared in a Nov. 12 Arlene Is Alone podcast that she’s focusing on herself. “I’m very aware that a lot of public stuff out there can be triggers… The woman I become through this is my decision,” she said.
Orlando, for his part, has taken Katy’s new romance in stride, even laughing at a satirical post suggesting he had dinner with former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
He and Katy have maintained an amicable relationship since their breakup, sharing pride in their daughter. “We’re gonna be great, it’s nothing but love,” he told Today in September.
