Donny Pangilinan and Kyle Echarri’s new Kapamilya action-drama series, Roja, claimed the number one spot on Netflix Philippines’ Top TV Shows after its premiere last 21 November.
Pangilinan, Echarri and Maymay Entrata were overwhelmed with gratitude over the viewers’ warm reception for the action-packed series, which was praised for its fast-paced and intriguing storyline that centers on a hostage-taking crisis at a luxury resort.
“It’s all worth it. We’re very happy. It’s like going to a set full of people that are super hungry. What an experience it has been so far. We’d like to thank all the Kapamilyas who tuned in,” they shared during the Star Magical Christmas event.
ABS-CBN recently gave a glimpse of Pangilinan and Echarri’s acting workshop with Coco Martin and Jake Cuenca as part of their preparations for their fight sequences. Viewers also got a first look of the two wearing full combat gear during a behind-the-scenes peek at their shoot in a forest in Zambales.
Donny shared that one of the most useful tips he got from Coco and Jake was how to properly hold a gun while still eliciting the proper emotions that the scene requires.
Kyle also added, “I’ve never been a part of this intense type of action. They gave us a little bit of notes and the pointers that we have to keep in mind, such as the correct stance and how to portray the different levels of anger.”
The first few episodes of Roja introduced viewers to the characters of Liam (Donny) and Olsen (Kyle), former best friends turned enemies who will be forced to confront their conflict and team-up when a deadly hostage crisis unfolds at the exclusive La Playa Roja resort.
Klea Pineda fetches Janella Salvador and son on a chopper
That’s how Kapuso starlet Klea Pineda showed her great love to What Lies Beneath star Janella Salvador.
Pineda surprised Salvador by fetching her and her son from the taping using a chopper.
“Getting picked up from taping by an airplane was not in my bingo card,” Salvador wrote on Instagram where she posted some photos.
“Anything for my two favorite passengers!” Pineda responded.
Many were not surprised at all by Pineda’s gesture as netizens already saw the brewing romance when they filmed a movie together. The extra sweetness gave netizens a seemingly ringside view of how they really were.
No mention
Was Jericho Rosales barred from mentioning Mon Confiado’s name during his promo guesting in Eat Bulaga for his film Quezon?
That was the collective reaction of netizens who figured out who were the personalities involved in a popular vlogger’s recent blind item.
The blind item was about an actor who guested in a noontime show but was given instruction not to mention the name of his co-actor who played an important part in a controversial movie.
The actor, as guessed by netizens, was Mon Confiado who played the late talent manager Rey dela Cruz in a Pepsi Paloma movie directed by Darryl Yap.
