The 75th Januarius Fil-Am Invitational kicked off with a bang on Friday, highlighted by three hole-in-one feats.
Ruben Palecpec of Fil-Am Golfers of New York Team 1 aced the 130-yard sixth hole at John Hay Golf with a nine-iron XXIO and a Callaway ball, while Bener Bauto of LMG Golf Cabanatuan also scored an ace on the same hole using a Honma Beres wedge and a Callaway ball.
Over at Baguio Country Club, Rolando Reyes of Fairgold Club of Sydney Team 2 aced the 12th hole.
Competition got underway across 10 divisions, with Baguio Country Club showing early dominance. BCC tallied 98 points at John Hay Golf to take a narrow two-point lead over Fil-Am Golfers of New York Team and Baguio Blue Bloods in the Fil-A division. At its home course, BCC 2 captured the Am-D bracket with 70 points, five ahead of Kumpadres-Beneco.
Sandigan also paced the Fil-F and Am-F brackets.
In Fil-D, A1/MGC and Abetamu shared the lead with 91 points each, while San Francisco Golf Warriors topped the Am-S division with 86 points, six clear of Baguio Beans.
