DAVAO CITY — Acting Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte issued a strong warning to drug pushers on Thursday evening before formally opening the Pasko Fiesta 2025 celebration at San Pedro Square.
“I will make you pay! Remember that. I have already listed your names. Just wait — there will be a day of reckoning,” Duterte said, addressing alleged drug pushers in the city.
The mayor’s statement came following a recent seizure of illegal drugs valued at P9,010,000 at KM 8.5 Mount Terrace, Barangay Pangi on 26 November.
Duterte also addressed issues surrounding his father, former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, and the distribution of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS). He highlighted that Dabawenyos still overwhelmingly supported his party, Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod, in the recent local elections.
“All over the Philippines will see that Dabawenyos are unstoppable and will continue to move forward. As long as we Dabawenyos are united, we will never fall,” he said, expressing gratitude for the public’s trust and pledging that the local government will continue to serve the people.
Before leading the formal opening rites of Pasko Fiesta 2025, which included the lighting of a 30-foot Christmas tree, Duterte took a look at the 10 Davao City-Yutong buses recently procured for the Davao Interim Bus System.
In addition, Duterte announced an additional P1 million reward for anyone who can provide credible information on the gunman and mastermind behind the killing of Tres de Mayo Barangay Captain and PDP-Laban provincial president Oscar Bucol Jr., as confirmed by lawyer Israelito Torreon.
