President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. honored local government units (LGUs) and Department of the Interior and Local Government regional offices (DILG-ROs) for their outstanding execution of local infrastructure projects and public services during the SubayBAYANI Awards 2025 ceremony at the Manila Hotel.

Nine LGUs were named Top Overall Performers, 126 LGUs were recognized as Exemplars, and three DILG-ROs were awarded for demonstrating “strong collaboration, transparent processes, and proactive efforts.”

“Keep up the good work. Continue to show that the public can trust and rely on their public servants,” Marcos said, urging officials to remain committed to delivering first-rate service.

The President stressed that high standards must prevail.

“High quality remains our standard. A government worthy of its people does not settle for mediocrity, does not cut corners, and does not waver,” Marcos said. “We strive for excellence because that is what our citizens deserve, and that is what our country deserves.”

Marcos also cited that dedicated and honest public servants are crucial to the success of his “Bagong Pilipinas” vision. He stressed that this national vision does not depend on a single leader or institution, but is built by “every government employee who faithfully serves our fellow citizens and every citizen who is willing to participate in government projects.”

The Top Overall Performers were recognized for various infrastructure projects: Mountain Province for upgrading the Ampawilen-Sadanga Provincial Road; Aklan for Phase 3 of the rehabilitation and improvement of the Balete-Arcanghel-Ogsip-Calamcan-Julita-Libacao Road; Zamboanga Sibugay for the concreting of the Pangi-Guitoan-Gomotoc Malagandis Provincial Road; Pasig City for major improvement at the Mega Dialysis Compound; Science City of Muñoz for constructing a multi-purpose building; Victorias City for building a two-story evacuation center and multi-purpose building; Victoria, Oriental Mindoro, for constructing a health station; Sumilao, Bukidnon, for constructing a multi-purpose building at Barangay Kisolon; and Magpet, Cotabato, for the construction of the Basak Water System Level III at Barangay Basak.

The DILG Regional Offices recognized for innovative monitoring initiatives were the National Capital Region (NCR), Eastern Visayas (Region VIII), and SOCCSKSARGEN (Region XII).

The annual SubayBAYANI Awards, established by the DILG in 2021, recognizes LGUs that uphold standards of participatory governance, citizen engagement, and transparency in implementing local infrastructure projects enrolled in the SubayBAYANI Portal.
