Senator Sherwin Gatchalian turned over P1.9 million in cash assistance and P2.193 million worth of rice to victims of Typhoon Uwan in Aurora Province during a turnover ceremony at the Capitol Building Function Hall in Baler on 22 November 2025.

Gatchalian was welcomed by Governor Isidro P. Galban and Congressman Rommel Angara, who joined him in distributing the aid to affected local government units.

The assistance — consisting of cash and sacks of rice — will benefit residents in the municipalities of Casiguran, Dilasag, Dipaculao, Maria Aurora, Dingalan, San Luis, Dinalungan, and Baler.

In his message, Governor Galban expressed gratitude for the help extended by the local government of Valenzuela through Councilor Mikey Pineda and Nina Lopez, representatives of Mayor Wes Gatchalian.
He added that the senator’s visit is proof that Aurora has a special space in Gatchalian’s heart.

Congressman Angara likewise thanked the Gatchalian family for their continued support, especially during calamities.
“Ang mga mamamayan ng lalawigan ay hindi nakakalimot sa mga taong nagmamahal at nagmamalasakit dito,” he said.

Gatchalian emphasized the need to sustain rebuilding efforts and provide ongoing support to families affected by the typhoon.
“Sana ay magpatuloy at lalo pang tumibay ang rehabilitasyon at pagbangon ng mga biktima ng bagyo. Nandito lang tayo para tuloy-tuloy nating matulungan ang mga nasalanta sa kanilang pagbangon,” he said.

Checks and sacks of rice were personally turned over to the LGU chiefs: Mayor Romner Agustin (Dilasag), Mayor Roynald Soriano (Casiguran), Mayor Biboy Vargas (Dinalungan), Mayor Aurora Taay (Dingalan), Mayor Danilo Tolentino (Dipaculao), Mayor Ariel Bitong (Maria Aurora), Executive Assistant to the Mayor Fay Tubera (San Luis), and Vice Mayor Lian Angara (Baler).

The senator also expressed relief that no casualties were recorded in the province, commending the swift and decisive action of LGUs to ensure public safety at the height of the storm.
