The Human Settlements Adjudication Commission (HSAC) announced Friday that Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Riyadh were able to learn how to address and resolve their real estate disputes in the Philippines during the “OFW Serbisyo Caravan” held from 13 to 15 November 2025 at the Al Mutlaq Hotel, Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Organized by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) through its Migrant Workers Office (MWO) in Riyadh, the event enabled OFWs to seek assistance from HSAC regarding their rights as homebuyers and how to file cases against unsound real estate business practices.
During the opening program, HSAC Commissioner John-Christopher T. Mahamud discussed the mandate and types of cases under the jurisdiction of the Commission. He emphasized HSAC’s vital role in resolving disputes involving real estate developments and ensuring that housing justice remains accessible to every Filipino — including those working abroad.
Mahamud expressed his gratitude to the DMW and the Philippine Embassy for spearheading the event, which gathered key government agencies to provide comprehensive frontline services to Filipinos in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“Our Overseas Filipino Workers are crucial builders of our nation. That is why HSAC shares the goal of DMW to make government service truly within reach of our kababayans beyond our shores,” Mahamud said.
The HSAC team provided legal information and responded to inquiries on property ownership and housing-related disputes in the Philippines. Many participants expressed appreciation for HSAC’s presence, highlighting how relevant its mandate is to OFWs investing in property and real estate.
Mahamud said the Commission’s participation in the OFW Serbisyo Caravan underscores its mission to bring housing justice closer to every Filipino — wherever they are in the world.
