The Malasakit Team of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go visited Camotes Island, Cebu Province last 15 November to provide aid to 800 families affected by a recent tropical storm.

With the assistance of local officials, the team turned over food packs to the local government units of Poro, Tudela, San Francisco and Pilar across the island.

In a message to the beneficiaries, Go stressed the importance of helping others.

“Let us remember, we only pass through this world once. Whatever kindness or help we can give to our fellow man, let us do it now because we will not return to this world,” he said.

Go also highlighted the crucial role of front-liners and emergency personnel during calamities. He said their sacrifices should be recognized, noting that in every disaster, there are people working silently to save and help others, often at the risk of their own safety.

The senator mentioned his filed Senate Bill No. 669, which seeks to grant hazard pay to all qualified responders directly involved in disaster operations, especially those in high-risk situations.

“This is not just about aid — this is also a recognition of the true heroes behind the relief effort,” Go stated. He concluded by assuring his constituents of his commitment: “Diligence, compassion, and more service is what I can offer you.”
