American Anna DeBeer and AC Miner starred in ZUS Coffee’s quick work of listless Nxled, 25-13, 25-21, 25-21, for a mighty bounce back to end the two-round preliminaries of the 2025 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference Tuesday at the Ynares Center-Montalban.
With the knockout quarterfinals set next week, the Thunderbelles rediscovered their winning ways in dominating fashion, as they only needed 86 minutes to dispose of the Chameleons for a 7-1 win-loss record in Pool C.
The win put ZUS Coffee on top of the overall standings, ahead of idle PLDT (6-1) and Farm Fresh (6-1), with just one more playdate left before the import-flavored season-ending tournament’s playoffs.
If both PLDT and Farm Fresh end up losing in straight or four sets in their final assignments, the Thunderbelles will take the coveted quarters No. 1 seeding and will face the eighth-seeded squad in the next round.
DeBeer was in her usual dangerous form, scoring 16 points and contributing 11 digs in an all-around production to spearhead ZUS Coffee’s rebound from a shocking 12-25, 24-26, 23-25, loss to Cignal last Thursday that snapped its six-game winning streak.
“I really think it was a good win for us just to kinda get some confidence back after last game,” said DeBeer, who dropped 26 points in the loss to the Super Spikers but barely received help from her teammates.
“It’s really just kinda go in, working hard, getting ready for the next game, which is the quarterfinals.”
This time, DeBeer had plenty of backup led by Miner and her efficient spiking clip.
