The first International Series Philippines (ISP) was held last month, bringing together local and international golf participants. The event also served as a platform for the BingoPlus Foundation, the social development arm of DigiPlus Interactive Corp., to provide financial support for sports and community programs.
Presented by BingoPlus, the tournament aimed to promote sports development and enhance the Philippines’ profile as a host of international sports events. During the week-long event, the BingoPlus Foundation distributed a total of P17.2 million in donations to four partner organizations: the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP), the Asian Development Tour (ADT), and the Sisidlan Rizal Weavers.
Of the total, P8 million was donated to the PSC to support athletic programs and provide funding for training and practice for young athletes. PSC Commissioner Fritz Gaston said the funds would be allocated to grassroots programs and youth development initiatives.
The Foundation also contributed US $50,000 to NGAP and US $100,000 to ADT. The ADT partnership, introduced in the Philippines for the first time, guarantees a Filipino golfer a slot in the International Series. These donations aim to support emerging talent and provide Filipino athletes with opportunities to compete internationally.
The Foundation’s support extended beyond sports. Along with BingoPlus and GameZone, it donated P500,000 to the Sisidlan Rizal Weavers, a local artisan group. The funds are intended to assist the group in maintaining operations and creating sustainable employment for women. Sisidlan Weavers founder Sharonette Roquios said the donation would directly support their business advocacy and expand livelihood programs.
BingoPlus Foundation Executive Director Angela Camins-Wieneke said the contributions are intended to create opportunities for participation in sports and community development. She also noted the event generated economic activity through tourism and local employment.
By combining the staging of the International Series Philippines with donations to sports and community organizations, the BingoPlus Foundation provided financial support to athletes, local artisans, and related programs, extending its development initiatives beyond previous focus areas such as education and health.
