Two women were killed after a fire hit a residential area in Antipolo City on Wednesday night.
The fire broke out at Zone 10, Barangay San Roque around 8 p.m.
Antipolo police identified the fatalities as a 68-year-old woman, identified only by the alias Marieta, and a 28-year-old woman with a disability, identified only as alias Catherine.
The incident was first reported to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of Antipolo City. Upon arrival, BFP personnel discovered that the fire had already spread rapidly to nearby houses, prompting immediate suppression efforts.
By 8:35 p.m., the fire was declared under control, and at around 10 p.m., it was officially declared fire out.
During an ocular investigation conducted by personnel from the Investigation and Detective Management Section of the Antipolo Component City Police Station, the victims were found lifeless inside the comfort room of their residence. Alias Catherine was discovered lying in the bathroom gutter, while alias Marieta was found inside the comfort room itself.
Authorities have yet to determine the total number of affected houses and the cause of the fire.
