Operatives of the Marikina City Police Station confiscated more than P2.2 million worth of suspected synthetic cannabinoids and high-grade marijuana during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Nangka early Thursday morning, 13 November.
Acting on validated intelligence reports indicating active illegal drug activity in the area, personnel of the Marikina City Police Station's Drug Enforcement Unit launched the operation, which resulted in the arrest of four individuals.
Siezed during the operation were approximately eight grams of suspected high-grade marijuana (kush) valued at P12,000 and six hundred thirty-one packs of suspected synthetic cannabinoids commonly known as “tuklaw,” with an estimated street value of P2,208,500.
All seized items were properly marked and submitted to the Eastern Police District Forensic Unit for laboratory examination.
The arrested suspects are currently detained at the Marikina City Police Station custodial facility while the necessary documentation for violations of Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, is being finalized for inquest proceedings.
