The Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) and Zhangzhou City in Fujian, China, are exploring a partnership aimed at promoting investment, strengthening supply-chain cooperation, and enhancing facilitation services for companies eyeing opportunities in Bataan.
During the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan’s (AFAB) visit to Zhangzhou City from 10 to 11 November, Administrator and CEO Hussein P. Pangandaman and his delegation were warmly received by the Philippine Zhangzhou Chamber of Commerce.
The mission concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between FAB and Zhangzhou City. The proposed collaboration focuses on agro-industrial development, manufacturing, port development and logistics, consumer goods such as electric vehicles, financial technology, renewable energy, tourism, and other emerging technologies.
On Tuesday, the AFAB delegation opened the FAB Business Promotion Conference at the China-Philippines Joint Demonstration Zone for Economic Innovative Development in Zhangzhou City, where they presented investment and cooperation opportunities to municipal representatives, council officials, and business leaders.
During the presentation, Pangandaman detailed a special cooperation framework between Zhangzhou and FAB, emphasizing that aligning priorities is essential in turning shared aspirations into “concrete outcomes through sincere and dedicated mutual cooperation.”
He also underscored the need to build on each side’s strengths and align policies to ensure cooperation results in “pragmatic, workable, and advantageous projects,” with support from the Philippine China Economic Cooperation Industrial Park (PCECIP) led by Sherryl Luo.
Pangandaman likewise met with business group leaders, joined by Wang Jinzu, former mayor of Zhangzhou and now Zhangzhou Party Secretary, to discuss a potential partnership between the two sides.
