Negotiations are said to be under way for an April clash between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.
This was disclosed by Pacquiao’s wife Jinkee, who is with the eight-division champion in Los Angeles.
“(I heard it’s) Mayweather,” Jinkee told DAILY TRIBUNE.
“They are still negotiating,” she added.
As to how advanced are the talks Jinkee could not be determined but she nevertheless confirmed that there are negotiations.
Mayweather beat Pacquiao on points in their first meeting in May 2015 in what has become boxing’s richest fight ever.
A few weeks ago, a report from the US said streaming giant Netflix is planning to stage a Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch in 2026 given its tremendous success in holding the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson in 2024 and Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez a couple of months back.
To spice things up, Pacquiao ran at Griffith Park for two straight days and showed up for training at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.
Though the training session wasn’t heavy, it was enough to shake off jet lag as Pacquiao had only flown into the States over the weekend.
American dealmaker Sean Gibbons was on hand alongside his son Brendan, who is helping him out stage Manny Pacquiao Promotions’ first card on American soil late this month starring Jimuel Pacquiao in Temecula, California.
Pacquiao, who turns 47 on 17 December, almost beat Mario Barrios in their World Boxing Council welterweight title bout last July in Las Vegas.
The fight ended in a controversial draw although most ringsiders feel that the Hall of Fame southpaw did enough to get the victory.
The Pacquiaos are in the United States not only to watch Jimuel make his professional debut but also wait for the birth of their son’s girlfriend Carolina’s baby anytime this month.
