The world of Philippine fashion and design prides itself in celebrated masters. These are distinct artists who have created a mark for themselves with their extraordinary and excellent bodies of work that has inspired, moved and elevated an industry. They are in leagues of their own and have found their spaces under the sun.
Beauty in the eyes of Wyn Wyn Ong is breathtaking, captivating and outstanding. Excellence is what immortalizes every masterpiece this notable artist brings to life. After a long hiatus, the retired master is back, still retired – but with a retrospective exhibit entitled “Distilled.”The exhibition explores her whimsical and storytelling world through capsule collections from 2000-2018. Inspired by nature woven with elements from diverse Asian cultures, traditions and myths, her handcrafted statement pieces from fine jewelry, bags, decor and furnishing are stunningly remarkable and fascinating fine objects of art.
Distilled is a library of stories and each collection has a unique narrative to tell. One can get lost in the masterful craft presented in each creation. Ong is guided by a core belief in skilled craftsmanship and ensures every piece tells its own unique story. The more you look and immerse in her art, the more layers of wonder it reveals. More importantly, one can feel a certain richness of depth and soul. A goddess of the earth, Ong remains to be a modest artist, who grounds luxury with the beauty and spirit of nature.
Distilled runs until 21 March 2026 at the Yuchengco Museum located at the RCBC Plaza, Corner Ayala and Sen. Gil Puyat Avenues, Makati City, open Mondays to Saturdays from 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
