A Filipina fashion designer based in Manila, Isabella, after returning from fashion studies and atelier training in Paris, now splits her time between designing childrenswear for Rustan’s, exploring creative projects under her own studio, and spending time with loved ones. Liliw, Laguna holds a special place for her father’s side of the family, where she reconnects with their well-documented history in the town and their ancestral home.
Arabela — Arabela is a Liliw institution. This cozy, family-owned (and family-run) Italian restaurant spills out onto the street during the summer, with diners passing around pizza platters, pasta bowls and indulgent desserts. It’s warm, lively and always delicious.
Esmeris Farm — Esmeris Farm is a short drive up the mountain, followed by a 15-minute hike to a charming glamping spot. The novelty farm offers plenty of Instagrammable installations, camping facilities and sweeping views. It’s the perfect place for a picnic surrounded by nature.
Liliw is known as the “Tsinelas Capital of the Philippines.” Everywhere you look, you’ll find charming specialty stores offering slippers, slides and sandals in every style imaginable. I’ve even found some of my favorite espadrille wedges here — comfortable enough to wear all day in Manila.
Say yes to new experiences. The life in Liliw is slow and quaint, but that means they’ve taken their time to perfect the food and craft over generations. Everything is meant to be tried and take time to explore little pocket resorts and restaurants in the surrounding mountainside.
Just a few minutes from the town proper, Tree Farm Liliw is a modern boutique hotel set amid lush greenery. Comfortable rooms, updated amenities and wide, open spaces make for a relaxed, no-fuss stay.
