Evacuation operations in Marikina City are ongoing after the water level of Marikina River reached 13.4 meters due to super typhoon Uwan.
According to the camp management report of Marikina City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), at about 8 AM, a total of 1,786 families or 8,918 individuals remain in the 33 evacuation centers in different barangays of the city.
The largest number of evacuees was recorded in the following evacuation sites:
H. Bautista Elementary School – 482 families, 2,725 individuals
Marikina Elementary School – 380 families, 1,947 individuals
Nangka Elementary School– 300 families, 1,133 individuals
Concepcion Elementary School – 141 families, 808 individuals
Concepcion Integrated School – 118 families, 587 individuals
Concepcion Integrated School-San Lorenzo – 120 families, 735 individuals
Parang Elementary School – 79 families, 332 individuals
San Roque Elementary School – 21 families, 90 individuals
San Roque National High School – 3 families, 14 individuals
Sta. Niña Elementary School – 45 families, 154 individuals
Marikina High School– 27 families, 142 individuals
Industrial Valley School Gym – 8 families, 32 individuals
Fortune High School – 1 families, 5 individuals
Malanday Elementary School – 1 families, 2 individuals
Sampaguita Gym – 8 families, 39 individuals
Bulelak Gym – 36 families, 168 individuals
L. Victorino Elementary School – 11 families, 41 individuals
SSSVES – 5 families, 16 individuals
At the same time, 467 operatives from the local government, barangays, and volunteer groups were deployed at the evacuation sites to to help with food distribution, security arrangements, and responding to the needs of the evacuees.
According to the report, the authorities remain at an alert level and continue to monitor the water level of Marikina River.
Residents in low-lying areas are still advised to remain alert and listen to the announcements of their barangay officials.
The local government of Marikina City is also continuously coordinating with the agencies of the national government "for additional assistance and relief operations while the effects of the typhoon are expected to last for the next few days.
