The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said it has recovered suspected rocket debris along the coastline of Barangay Saoit, Burgos, Ilocos Norte, on Sunday.

PCG said personnel from the Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Burgos discovered the materials during routine mobile and foot patrols conducted as part of their “Paalala sa Mangingisda sa Panahon ng Bagyo” information drive in light of Super Typhoon UwanPH.

The debris, reportedly bearing Chinese markings, was seen drifting ashore.

By 9:30 a.m., CGSS Burgos coordinated with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to ensure the safe recovery and handling of the material.

Coast Guard personnel also issued safety advisories urging residents and fishermen to stay away from the suspected rocket parts until authorities complete their assessment.

The PCG has yet to confirm the origin of the debris, and investigations are ongoing to determine whether it poses any immediate threat to public safety.

Local officials continue to monitor the area, emphasizing vigilance amid the approaching typhoon.

Also, authorities urged residents and local fishermen to maintain a safe distance while the investigation and validation of the debris are ongoing.
