The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has increased the disaster response capabilities of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) by deploying additional personnel and resources from the Philippine Army, Philippine Navy, and Philippine Air Force on 9 November 2025.
The move is part of the AFP’s proactive preparations for the expected impact of Super Typhoon “Uwan,” which is projected to heavily affect Northern and Central Luzon. The reinforcement aims to ensure swift, coordinated, and effective humanitarian assistance and disaster response operations across the affected regions.
According to NOLCOM Commander Lieutenant General Aristotle D. Gonzalez, the augmentation reflects the AFP’s commitment to protecting lives and property amid severe weather threats.
"NOLCOM stands as one in preparing for the possible adverse effects of Super Typhoon Uwan. With the joint capabilities of the Army, Navy, and Air Force under NOLCOM’s operational control, we are fully committed to deliver immediate assistance and ensure the safety of our people," Gonzalez said.
The additional forces include Search, Rescue, and Retrieval Teams; Water Search and Rescue Teams; engineering and medical units; and mobility assets such as transport trucks and watercraft. These will be deployed in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense and Regional and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils.
NOLCOM’s Emergency Monitoring and Action Cell and Battle Staff Alpha remain activated to oversee situation updates and synchronize operations. Liaison officers have also been dispatched to local disaster management centers to ensure real-time coordination of response efforts.
