The 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division of the Philippine Army, led by Major General Joseph Pasamonte, is on full alert as Super Typhoon “Uwan” approaches.
All Disaster Response Units of Joint Task Force Kaugnay have been activated to ensure rapid coordination and immediate response to the potential impact of the typhoon within the Joint Operational Area.
Emergency Monitoring and Action Centers have been operational since November 5, preparing for the typhoon, which is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this week and may intensify into a super typhoon before making landfall in Northern or Central Luzon.
JTF Kaugnay units have conducted inventories of Search, Rescue, and Retrieval Teams and prepositioned equipment in strategic locations. Liaison officers have also been assigned to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (LDRRMCs) in Region III and Pangasinan for closer coordination with government agencies.
“The 7th Infantry Division is ready to assist our communities. We call on everyone to remain alert, follow the advisories of the authorities, and prioritize safety. With unity and cooperation, we will overcome Super Typhoon Uwan safely and together,” Pasamonte said.
He added that the 7ID continues to monitor the situation and is prepared to respond to ensure the safety of communities.
