Two trucks loaded with smuggled onions were seized by the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) at the Bypass Road, Balagtas Exit in Bulacan on 3 November 2025.
In a belated report released on 5 November, the PNP-HPG said four individuals were arrested after being caught transporting the agricultural products without proper permits.
According to police, personnel of the Provincial Highway Patrol Team were conducting a patrol and anti-carnapping operation when they intercepted an Isuzu reefer van and an Isuzu Giga truck loaded with imported onions.
HPG operatives initially noticed sacks of onions being transferred to an unauthorized area at the roadside. When questioned, the individuals failed to produce documentation required for the importation or transport of the goods.
An initial inventory found that the vehicles contained sacks of onions estimated at about P700 per sack, with a total market value of roughly P700,000.
The suspects are currently under police custody, while the seized trucks and agricultural products have been impounded at the PHPT Bulacan Headquarters pending documentation, verification, and turnover to the appropriate government agencies.
