Lapid vows aid to Cebuanos

Senator Lito Lapid said he is coordinating with local government units (LGUs) in Cebu to provide assistance to residents affected by typhoon “Tino.”

“I am already reaching out to various LGUs to find out how my office can help our fellow Cebuanos in need,” Lapid said in a statement on Friday.

Cebu, still recovering from a powerful earthquake last September, recorded the highest number of fatalities from the typhoon at 139, with 79 people still missing, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

“What our fellow Cebuanos are going through is no joke, especially since they were just hit by a strong earthquake recently,” Lapid added.

He also expressed his sympathies to the families who lost loved ones in the typhoon and urged the public to keep Cebu in their prayers.

“I extend my condolences to the families bereaved by those who died in the storm, and let us all pray that our fellow Cebuanos recover and overcome these trials,” Lapid said.
