CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – As Super Typhoon “Uwan” approaches, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) is ramping up its disaster response preparations by conducting thorough inspections of its rescue and relief equipment.
PRO3 Regional Director PBGEN Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. led the inspection on Saturday, stressing the critical role of preparedness in saving lives. The review covered essential tools such as rescue boats, life vests, chainsaws, generators, and communication equipment, all vital for emergency response operations.
“Our commitment to the people of Central Luzon is to be ready and responsive,” PBGEN Peñones Jr. said. “This equipment represents our ability to act swiftly and effectively when lives are on the line.”
In addition to the readiness check, PBGEN Peñones Jr. instructed all provincial and city directors to coordinate closely with local disaster management offices, conduct their own equipment inspections, and ensure disaster response units are fully prepared for deployment. He also emphasized the importance of working with local government units and partner agencies to execute a unified and effective response.
The initiative reflects the Philippine National Police’s overarching focus on proactive disaster readiness and inter-agency coordination, reinforcing its commitment to safeguarding communities and maintaining public order during crises.
“Managing risk begins with readiness,” PBGEN Peñones Jr. added, highlighting the need for consistent preparedness across all levels of the police force.
PRO3 continues to monitor Typhoon Uwan’s progress and remains prepared to deploy additional resources as required, demonstrating its dedication to serving Central Luzon with vigilance and compassion.
