PAGASA warns of heavy rain across Luzon, Visayas Sunday

Several areas across Luzon and Visayas are expected to experience heavy rainfall on Sunday, according to the latest report from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its Heavy Rainfall Outlook issued at 5 a.m. on 7 November, PAGASA identified the following areas expected to receive significant rainfall on Sunday, 9 November:

100–200 mm (heavy to intense rainfall):

  • Isabela

  • Aurora

  • Quezon

  • Camarines Norte

  • Camarines Sur

  • Catanduanes

50–100 mm (moderate to heavy rainfall):

  • Apayao

  • Kalinga

  • Mountain Province

  • Ifugao

  • Batanes

  • Cagayan

  • Quirino

  • Nueva Vizcaya

  • Nueva Ecija

  • Bulacan

  • Rizal

  • Laguna

  • Albay

  • Sorsogon

  • Masbate

  • Northern Samar

  • Eastern Samar

  • Samar

  • Biliran

“Forecast rainfall may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas. Moreover, impacts in some areas may be worsened by significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA said.

The weather bureau advised local disaster risk reduction and management offices to take all necessary precautions to protect lives and property. It added that PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue Heavy Rainfall Warnings, Thunderstorm Advisories, and other severe weather updates as appropriate.

As of early Friday morning, 7 November, PAGASA reported that Fung-Wong has intensified into a severe tropical storm, while the Northeast Monsoon continues to affect Extreme Northeastern Luzon.
