The City Government of Muntinlupa has once again earned national recognition after securing seven major awards at the 2025 Urban Governance Exemplar Awards (UGEA), an annual program by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) that honors the country’s top-performing local government units.
These awards underscore Muntinlupa’s consistent excellence in governance, effective public service delivery, and its commitment to the welfare and security of its residents. The city was recognized as a top performer in the Local Council for the Protection of Children Performance Year 2024, while its Sangguniang Panlungsod received the 2025 Local Legislative Award for Exemplary Performance.
The Peace and Order Council and Anti-Drug Abuse Council of Muntinlupa were recognized as significant and invaluable partners in advancing the vision of a safe, secure, and drug-free National Capital Region. The city was also declared “highly functional” in the 2025 functionality audit of its Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and their Children.
In addition, Muntinlupa garnered three distinctions in the 2024 Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation LGU Compliance Assessment, being named “Highly Compliant” and the top performer in both the Informal Settler Families (ISF) Cluster and the Liquid Waste Management (LWM) Cluster.
Mayor Ruffy Biazon praised the collective efforts behind the city’s achievements in public governance. “In every step of the City Government, our goal remains clear—to provide genuine and compassionate service to every Muntinlupeño. These awards affirm that Muntinlupa is indeed a Smart, Strong, and Sustainable city,” he said.
The UGEA honors LGUs that demonstrate exemplary performance in fields such as urban governance, legislation, peace and order, anti-illegal drugs, environmental protection, and safeguarding vulnerable sectors. With this latest sweep, Muntinlupa continues to solidify its standing as a model city in the NCR, pushing forward with sustainable and inclusive development.
