Telecommunications company Globe continues to expand its "Globe of Good" initiatives across Western Mindanao with a focus on digital inclusion, youth empowerment, and environmental protection, the company announced Monday.
The efforts involve strategic partnerships and volunteer activities designed to uplift vulnerable communities and foster sustainable growth in the region.
Globe, in partnership with Western Mindanao State University (WMSU), launched "Digital Horizons for Out-of-School Youth (OSY)."
The program is designed to equip young Filipinos with essential digital literacy, athletic development, and leadership skills.
The inaugural program saw 40 OSY participate alongside 117 WMSU students, faculty, and staff, offering what Globe called a sustainable learning experience aimed at empowering youth to participate in the digital economy.
Separately, the GT Coop CAREavan was activated at WMSU’s College of Social Sciences and Public Education, engaging over 150 participants.
The event featured the Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), covering topics such as Digital Conduct, Cyberbullying, and Telco 101.
Globe also conducted a symbolic turnover of shoes and whistles to support inclusive education.
Reinforcing its environmental commitment, Globe volunteers launched the Coastal Digital Roots initiative in Misamis Oriental.
In partnership with local fisherfolk and leaders in Barangay Baybay, Alubijid, volunteers planted a total of 917 mangrove seedlings.
The effort aims to protect the coastal ecosystem and strengthen the community’s resilience against climate change.
"These initiatives reflect Globe’s deeper purpose to extend care, connectivity, and opportunity to every Filipino," said Aldwin Mahusay, Assistant Director-HR Business Partner for VisMin at Globe. "Whether it’s empowering youth or restoring our environment, we are committed to building a future where no one is left behind."
Globe said that its efforts in Western Mindanao demonstrate how partnerships and purpose-driven technology can create a lasting impact both online and on the ground.
