SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) has conducted a dry run of its electric buses at the Central Business District of the Subic Bay Freeport Zone on 03 November 2025.
According to SBMA Deputy Administrator for Corporate Communications Armie Llamas, the e-bus dry run will run from 03 to 09 November, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., with no fares collected during the testing period.
Llamas said the e-bus program is part of the agency’s effort to make the Subic Bay Freeport Zone a “carbon-neutral port” by 2030.
The objectives of the dry run include checking the buses’ functionality and capacity under actual passenger conditions, assessing compliance and operational aspects of charging stations and manpower, and conducting a time-and-motion study to determine average cycle duration and efficiency.
Currently, four e-buses are operating along the Central Business District route of the Freeport Zone. Some passengers expressed delight over the quiet operation and cool interior, describing the ride as comfortable and efficient.
