The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) formally kicked off the 2025 Estrella Cup Sportsfest at the DAR Central Office, opening a two-month celebration anchored on the theme “SIKLAB: Sama-samang Ipagdiwang ang Kagalingan at Lakas ng mga Atletang Lingkod-Bayan.”
DAR Secretary Conrado Estrella III led the ceremony, underscoring the importance of promoting a culture of work-life balance, teamwork, and employee well-being to strengthen public service delivery.
“We all need time to recharge. Work alone can drain our energy and creativity,” Estrella said. “Through sports, we not only strengthen our bodies but also our sense of teamwork and discipline—qualities that make us better public servants.”
Estrella and volleyball icon Aby Maraño administered the oath of sportsmanship to participating employees, emphasizing the values of fairness, integrity, and mutual respect throughout the games.
The sportsfest features a lineup of events including volleyball, basketball, badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, darts, and chess.
DAR Undersecretary and Sportsfest Committee Chair Jesry Palmares noted that beyond competition, the Estrella Cup promotes employee wellness and unity.
“Team building goes beyond the workplace,” Palmares said. “The Estrella Cup strengthens friendships, promotes a healthy lifestyle, and reminds us that our greatest victories come when we play—and work—together.”
The opening ceremony was attended by Undersecretaries Lani de Leon, Kazel Celeste, and Amihilda Sangcopan; Assistant Secretaries Jenil Demorito and Rene Colocar; and various bureau directors of the DAR.
A lively parade and the presentation of team muses added excitement to the festivities, showcasing creativity and unity among employees.
The 2025 Estrella Cup is expected to be a season filled with fun, friendly competition, and renewed motivation across the agency—championing the spirit of service, sportsmanship, and well-being among DAR employees.
